This September, see Rodgers and Hammerstein's "Oklahoma!" at the Southwest Playhouse in Clinton. This beloved American musical comes to life in a new staging that celebrates Oklahoma's rich cultural heritage. Set outside the town of Claremore, Indian Territory, in 1906, it tells the story of farm girl Laurey Williams and her courtship by two rival suitors, cowboy Curly McLain and the sinister and frightening farmhand Jud Fry. Known for its iconic score and optimistic spirit, "Oklahoma!" has been a cornerstone of American culture for generations.
