Edmond's Early Route 66

Don't miss Amy Stephens' historical discussion "Edmond's Early Route 66" at the Edmond History Museum in November. Stephens will share her research about the cultural changes that resulted when Edmond became a Route 66 town. The 1920s decade saw dramatic changes in technology, fashion, and women's rights in addition to the highway that would bring thousands of cars through town every day. Route 66 was responsible for tourists, business opportunities and societal changes that would help Edmond economically survive the coming recessions. Stephens relies on historic photos, entertaining stories, and the writings of A.D. Dailey, the longtime editor of "The Edmond Sun" to tell the story of Edmond's Early Route 66. This lecture is free and open to the public, but an RSVP is appreciated.
